Glasgow Caledonian University is the most recent of Glasgow's Universities, situated adjacent to Buchanan Street Bus Station just North of the city centre. Formed in 1993, its roots can be traced back over a hundred years to the Glasgow and West End Schools of Cookery which were formed in the 1870s. The Caledonian University offers a range of courses, from full-time and part-time courses to flexible online and distance learning. A modern sports facility (named the Arc) was recently opened for students, staff and the community. Glasgow Caledonian University also contains the Heatherbank Museum of Social Work - the sole Museum in Europe entirely dedicated to Social Work and Welfare.
